If You’re Going to San Francisco…

If you’re Going to San Francisco, it’s almost impossible this song do not come on your mind:

Oh, my sweet foggy city! You was really friendly with me during my time with you!

I will tell you some tips to go there, and what I did there – I didn’t have too much time to visit the city, so for sure, have a lot of other things to do there.
I was visiting a friend that lives in Cupertino – the Apple’s city – and on Saturday we went to visit San Francisco, so let’s start with the tips:

1. Getting the CalTrain

On Saturday morning we bought the CalTrain tickets for One day Pass (Zone 1 to 3 or 3 to 1)- because is cheaper.

  • If you are going with more than one person, the tip here is to buy all together in one time, because the price is lower. For example: The normal price for One Day Pass is $19.50 and my friend and I, we bought together and the price per person was $14.50. Better, right? 🙂
  • The CalTrain has an App for your download, and can be really useful for you check the schedule and then you can be on time and plan better your day. The app is free! 🙂

2. Bus

Well, we didn’t have a great experience with bus, but is cheap and is really simple to get. But sometimes is really full. But anyway, the bus that we get was the X8 – this one pass through Pier 39, that was where we were going – and this bus have every 8 min, so if you lose one, no problem…soon will come another one. The price was $2.25 per person – tip: bring coins, because if you put more money, they don’t give the money back.

3. Pier 39

By the pier 39 you can have a great view of the Alcatraz, and is by the port too. There have a place that you can find a lot of stores with souvenirs from Alcatraz and San Francisco – but there is not the cheapest place, if you walk a little bit you will start to see a lot of stores that sell this products. And if you like to visit every single Hard Rock Cafe that you find in the places that you visit, you will find it by the Pier 39!
I just enter in the store, just to check it out, but didn’t buy anything there! But you can find some good stuff for a good price.

4. Rent a Bike

This is the best thing ever that you can do there. You can find a lot of places to rent bikes. We found a place that we paid $8 per hour. And you can bike all the way till the Golden Gate Bridge and you can cross the bridge and keep going. Well, I just went till the bridge and go back to the pier, two reasons: was starting to be late and because my friend is afraid of height. But was a good choice for that day.

5. Coffee By the Bridge

If you are doing the bike way, you will find a place close to the bridge – like under the bridge – that have a good coffee and good souvenirs! Is not that expensive, is a good price – the name is The Warming Hut Coffee and bookstore. The view of the bridge there is awesome and is close of the water and the beach! That place is really good for you take a break and keep going.

6. Golden Gate Bridge

Well, a little bit before I was going to San Francisco, there had a storm – something that don’t happened for a long time there, rain. So I was thinking that when I went to the golden gate I’ll not see anything…but for my surprise, was clearly! And that place is so beautiful, that bridge…oh that view…is really amazing!

7. Good Place with Good Beer

We found a place there is really nice – the name is Jacks Bar – there we ate some fries,  that was really good, and we drunk our favorite beer (my friend: Heineken / and I: Guinness). The place doesn’t have tables inside, just outside! And the style of the place is really different and cool. Is a good place to sit down, drink a good beer and spend some time with your friends.

8. Cupertino / San Jose

On Sunday , my friend show me all the big companies that have around there, like apple and google! The only thing that I can think to describe the Google is: OMG! It’s a city! Guys, is really big that place, everything is cute, colorful and have that bikes for you get and ride them all around of that ‘city’.

9. Brazilian Steakhouse: Fogo de Chão

This is the best place ever! This restaurant is located in the city San Jose, this city is one of “a little San Francisco”. The people who work there are really nice and they make our lunch time really nice and fun. There you can find the best Brazilian barbecue, and trust me: is really good one! It’s kind of expensive, but you can go there once of month – hehe – the price per person is $54.50 , you can pay this for enjoy a good place, with good food and an excellent treatment. Oh yeah, I almost forgot…If you want to try a really good Caipirinha – the brazilian drink – there is the place to try a really good one!

10. Uber

The Uber service is not that expensive there, we had some bad time with a guy that wasn’t nice…he was unprofessional with us, so after this ride, I was kind of afraid to get another Uber and be by myself with a guy like that. But fortunately, the ride back to the airport was great and I had a good time, the driver was really friendly and he has a basket with food and drink for you chose and be more comfortable…oh yeah! He put Christmas lights inside the car – haha! So here is the tip: when you are tired, is a good solution to don’t pay too much taxi, the Uber usually is cheaper than a normal taxi.

Okay. I think if you are Going to San Francisco you can have an idea of what to do there and where is good to go! I hope you enjoyed the ‘ride’! 😀

In the next post I’ll talk about the flight company that I got my tickets to go to San Francisco! That was really good and I think you would like to know this experience!

See you soon everybody!
